Humanists Victoria joins the following pledge, to support the freedom of trans and gender diverse people to be themselves, to have bodily autonomy and to be safe in their communities. We oppose any move that would threaten the rights, freedom or safety of the trans community.
The rental crisis is a social and environmental crisis. Rental properties are some of the most leaky and inefficient buildings, creating an excessive drain on energy resources to heat in winter and cool in summer as well as an additional financial burden for renters paying the energy bills. Gas is linked to a 12% increase in asthma and other respiratory illnesses.
On Monday 23 October 2023, the City of Boroondara Council voted, by 9 votes to 1, in favour of removing the prayer from the Council’s governance rules. There will be no more praying at the opening of Council meetings at Boroondara.
