Bringing ethical understanding to primary schools

While parents in the Victorian State education system are looking to schools to reinforce their children’s moral compass, the Humanist Society of Victoria has seen a need for children to think about practical ethics at primary school level. Advocating an innovative approach to ethics in schools we have identified Philosophy for Children (P4C) as the most progressive way to encourage both ethical understanding and critical thinking. We initiated a trial introduction of ethics lessons, called Community of Ethical Inquiry, which was conducted in State schools during term 4, 2014.

We are preparing to launch the report of the trial, Bringing Ethical Understanding to Primary Schools, which should be of interest to parents, teachers and school councils.
