Humanists Victoria is wholeheartedly supporting the Human Rights Law Centre's campaign for a National Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms. Australia is the only democracy that does not have such a charter – which is hard to believe. It will benefit the whole community. It will help prevent human rights violations, provide a powerful tool for challenging injustices and foster a culture of understanding and respecting human rights.

The rental crisis is a social and environmental crisis. Rental properties are some of the most leaky and inefficient buildings, creating an excessive drain on energy resources to heat in winter and cool in summer as well as an additional financial burden for renters paying the energy bills. Gas is linked to a 12% increase in asthma and other respiratory illnesses.
