– Including marginalised communities

This continues the work supported by Humanists Victoria last year. The inadequate legal protection of human rights in Australia contributes to inequality and disadvantage, which disproportionately affects Indigenous communities and people with disability. This project will promote understanding and acceptance of the need to protect human rights in law for the benefit of everyone, including marginalised groups. It will contribute to our ultimate goal of an Australian Charter of Human Rights that contains legally binding human rights. A Charter would provide a clear legal framework and contribute to the realisation of those rights for people and communities across Australia. HV has awarded ten thousand dollars to this project.
