People who need people: fostering connection

May 16 @ 19:30 - 21:00 AEST

Join us at the sustainable, co-housing community, Urban Coup, 24 Hope Street, Brunswick  at 7.30 pm on Thursday 16 May to explore social connection, loneliness and social isolation, and some of the health issues known to be associated with them. We will look at ways to  promote social connection, with a focus on social prescribing.

There will be two speakers., Dr Rajna Ogrin and Joy Nuske.

Dr Ogrin’s initial clinical podiatry work identified gaps in clinical practice, that led her into research.  Her goal is to optimise health and wellbeing through co-design, and community-based, person-centred interprofessional care.

Joy, a volunteer at Connect Local, a social prescribing project currently underway in Glen Eira, will talk about her lived experience.

It will be a lively evening. Joy, who has been blind from birth, is also a pianist. So, there will be music. Bring an instrument, if you want to join in.
