Indian Caste Discrimination in Australia

March 23 @ 19:30 - 21:00 AEDT

HV Public Presentation

At Balwyn Library Meeting Room, Whitehorse Road, Balwyn – also by Zoom

The caste system of India is one of the most pernicious systems of discrimination that persists in the world today. What is it all about, and how does it manifest itself in the Indian diaspora around the world? What may be happening in Australia in this regard, and how could Australia respond to this problem which has deep implications for Human Rights?

Babu Gogineni was International Director of the International Humanist and Ethical Union (now Humanists International) for 17 years. He organized the First World Conference on Untouchability in London in 2009 and the Second in Kathmandu in 2015. He founded the South Asian Humanist Association and Science for Society and serves on the board of directors of the International Association of Freethought.

While in India he was a broadcaster with his own TV show in the Telugu language, ‘The Big Question with Babu Gogineni’.  He moved to Melbourne in 2019.
