How are Beliefs Justified? (Philosophy Matters)

27 Apr 2021 @ 18:30 - 20:30 AEST

In this presentation in the Philosophy Matters series, James Fodor will consider the problem of how knowledge is justified. In particular, he will compare and contrast the main competing theories of justification, including foundationalism, coherentism, and reliabilism, and highlight their various strengths and weaknesses. James will also consider the more general issue of internalism versus externalism of justification. He will conclude by offering a brief defense of his own preferred view of a modest form of internalist coherentism.
