Distant But Together: American Humanist Association 2020 Conference
9 Aug 2020 @ 01:00 - 08:30 AEST
Each year, the American Humanist Association brings together humanists from across the US to celebrate the values of humanism at their Annual Conference. The coronavirus pandemic has meant gathering together physically is not possible, so their 2020 annual conference will be online: Distant but Together: A Virtual Celebration of Humanism.
All are invited to join them and there is no cost – but registration is required.
The timing of live sessions will be for night owls only in Australia! Conference sessions (plus breaks) will run from 11:00 am to 6.30 pm EDT in the US.
So the time for Australia will be 1:00 am to 8:30 am AEST on Sunday 9 August.
Speakers will explore the values and principles that undergird the humanist community. Topics will include:
- The current status of the church-state battleground
- Racial and economic equity in the age of COVID-19
- Is atheism still a political taboo?
- Growing secular communities
- And more!
