Events – Friday 9 to Sunday 11 February 2018
2018 Global Atheist Convention
Where: Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, 1 Convention Centre Place, South Wharf, Melbourne, Australia
When: Friday 9th to Sunday 11th February, 2018
This Global Atheist Convention will bring together like-minded thinkers and those who want to challenge their thinking for an exhilarating three days featuring world-renowned speakers and entertainers in a world-class Melbourne venue.
It’s going to be a fascinating mix of science, social issues and comedy. The Convention’s theme is Reason to Hope and it will emphasise the importance of evidence-based reasoning in a climate where “alternative facts” can influence political and social issues – among a lot of laughs, book signings and photo opportunities of course! This will be a great opportunity to amplify our shared message about the importance of human solutions and critical thinking in government policy.
The speaker line up includes:
- Sir Salman Rushdie – keynote speaker
- Richard Dawkins
- Ben Goldacre
- Jane Caro
- Robin Ince
- Greta Christina
- Tracey Spicer
- Peter FitzSimons
- Lawrence Leung
- Clementine Ford
- Maryam Namazie
The Global Atheist Convention welcomes everyone. Whether you are a ‘serious’ atheist, ‘faithless and relaxed’, someone who is not-sure-but-keeping-an-open-mind on the topic of religion or an intellectually curious religious person (or a partner, friend or family member of any of these), you might want to enjoy brilliant speakers, laugh at godless comedians and maybe gather some food for thought from the discussions and debates.
